  A long time ago, One for All gave the Quirk that can collect power to his brother. However, he was unaware of the fact that his brother already can transfer powers. Generations later, these two Quirks together made the mysterious One for All that can collect Quirks and pass them down to its future users. The two brothers were nothing like each other, while All for One used his abilities to gain greater control over the world and increase his influence, his brother, on the other hand, wanted a peaceful world. At some point in his life, he gave his Quirk to someone he felt was worthy of fighting for the goal of defeating One for All. The anime starts with the eighth holder of All for One, All Might who passes it down to Izuku, the ninth holder.
