How to Rotate and Crop Video on iPhone and iPad

You don’t need any third-party applications or editing software to rotate or crop videos on your iPhone and iPad, anymore.

Sometimes, you accidentally miss out taking videos in the right orientation or capture something that wasn’t required at all. iPhone and iPad have in-built editing tools to tackle the same. It takes hardly a few seconds to fix these issues, and you’re good to go.

iOS 13 has made all picture editing tools available for video edits as well. Be sure of updating the same to work with these tools. The steps to rotate videos on an iPhone and iPad using in-built editing features are:

  1. Go to the ‘Photos’ application on your phone. Locate and open the video that you want to rotate.
  2. On the top right corner of the screen, click on the ‘Edit’ option.
  3. Editing tools will appear on the bottom of the window from which you’ve to choose the ‘Cropping’ tool besides the ‘Done’ button.
  4. On the top left corner of the screen, click on the ‘Rotate’ icon. Tap the button until you reach a correct orientation.
  5. Once you make the changes, click on the ‘Done’ button to confirm and save the changes.
  6. In case you want to go back to the original video, open the video from the ‘Photos’ app and click on the ‘Edit’ option. Tap on the ‘Revert’ icon and the settings will change back to original.

Note: If you changed any other settings of the video- for example, applied filters, those will go back to original, as well.

These edits are not only for the iPhone or iPad shot videos. Instead, any videos saved in your ‘Photos’ app can be edited with these in-built tools.

These were the two basic editing tools to use on your Apple devices, but that’s not it. Apple offers you a set of tools that has completely cut down the need for any third-party applications.

iMovie is another application offered by Apple where you can edit your videos if you’re a beginner, or if you don’t need high color grading videos.
