How to Move Installed Programs to Another Drive on Windows 10?

When you install any software, program or app on the laptop or PC, it automatically saves in the ‘C-drive’.  But sometimes “C-drive’ gets full and the PC starts working slowly. If you want to stop this, then you have to transfer your installed programs to a different drive on your system. So, if you want to know how to do this, then read on.


Move Modern Programs or Apps via Windows Built-in Tool

Follow the guidelines given here:

  1. You should invoke the Settings of the system.
  2. Beneath the Settings, choose the option of System.
  3. Underneath the System, select the option of Storage through the menu shows at the left side.
  4. You have to choose the option of ‘App and features’ through the right screen.
  5. You will see the installed apps and programs list on the PC.
  6. Select the program or the app you would like to transfer to a different drive.
  7. Then two choices will show, select the option of Move.
  8. You will see a section will launch, which will pop-up you to choose the drive wherever you would like to transfer the application.
  9. Choose the drive through the menu of drop-down wherever you would like to transfer the chosen program or app.
  10. Once you choose the drive, select the button of Move.
  11. Now, the chosen program or app will begin moving.

Transfer Installed Programs or Apps through Steam Mover

Follow the guidelines given here:

  1. Firstly, you have to download the Steam Mover.
  2. Once you finish the download, unzip the zip file you downloaded.
  3. You will see a ‘SteamMover.exe’ name file.
  4. Reach the extracted file and twice click on it to launch it.
  5. Select the button of Browse and choose the folder that adds each pre-installed apps and programs then select the OK button.
  6. Then each folder and file into the ‘C: drive’ will show.
  7. Finally, go to the ‘Alternate folder’, search the place wherever you would like to transfer the installed programs and apps.
  8. Select the OK button once choose the folder of location.
  9. Once you choose both folders, select the button of Arrow applicable at the lower side of the screen.
  10. Once you finish the execution, verify that the chosen folders have been transferred to the optional folder, reach the optional folder location then look there.
  11. Now, all the chosen ‘C: drive’ programs, and apps must have transferred there.
