 The actor of Walking Dead, Andrew Lincoln, says that the trilogy movie’s shooting might start in spring 2021.

Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard’s The Walking Dead is a post-apocalyptic horror TV series based on the same name’s comic book series. It stars Andrew Lincoln in the role of the series’ protagonist, alongside Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Jeffrey DeMunn, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, and Danai Gurira in the supporting cast. The show is broadcast on AMC through the Fox Networks Group in the United States. The show premiered on 31 October 2010. The tenth season of the series premiered on 6 October 2019, and the eleventh season, the last one, is under production.

Critics and the audience positively receive the show. It also got many nominations, including the Writers Guild of America Award for New Series and the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama. The team revealed that The Walking Dead would be concluded after airing the eleventh season in 2022.

During an interview with ABC, Lincoln shared the first news regarding Walking Dead Rick Grimes films that the team has delayed the film’s production work due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, he is hopeful that the team will start the shooting in spring 2021. The actor compared the coronavirus vaccine with the “cavalry coming,” hoping that the project will soon come back to track and pick up again.

Lincoln said: “My plans, which include a Walking Dead movie, have been forestalled by the pandemic, though he hopes the film will start shooting in the spring. “It does feel like there is a certain sense of positivity and the cavalry’s coming with the vaccines,” he said. “And there’s a real sort of sense of a renewal, hopefully.”

If The Walking Dead movie comes out of hibernation in the spring, it might release in 2022 in theatres, the same year the final season of the show will air. The executive producer of David Alpert, Walking Dead, said the movie was coming along a big way, but the team will start filming if they feel safe. While virtually talking with Skybound Xpo over the past summer, Alpert said they could not shoot then due to the lockdown phase, and that was the big thing holding them back. The writer of the movie, Robert Kirkman, shared that the writing is under process. Since there is a lot more time to cook, they are making sure it is perfect.

Fans are even hoping that they would again witness their favorite character in season 2 of The World Beyond. However, Gimple confirmed that it would not be possible. He revealed that the show might have some connection to the films. So the audience has to wait for the movie to watch Rick Grimes return.

The AMC’s series is ending for a reason as not many audiences are engaging with the show as they used to. Hence the team is planning to bring a spin-off to expand the franchise’s universe. They are also hoping introducing Grimes might again attract the views towards it and re-ignite the interest. Hopefully, the iconic character will appear on the big screen as soon as possible.
