How to Advertise on Facebook
Facebook is one of the biggest and most popular social media platforms. Every day thousands of posts and videos are uploaded on the platform. As a result, the organic reach on Facebook has been continuously falling. So, if you are a new brand or business trying to build reach, you will have a hard time reaching your audience organically. Therefore, you must compliment your organic efforts with paid efforts. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to run Facebook ads because today, we are going to help you with that. Let’s learn about the best way to advertise on Facebook.
Choose your desired objective
Once you have logged into your Facebook ads manager account, click on the green “Create” button under the campaigns tab. Next, you will be presented with a list of objectives that you can select for your ad campaign. This is the most crucial step if you want to run a successful Facebook ad campaign. Facebook offers 11 marketing objectives under three categories (Awareness, Consideration, and Conversion) that you can select for your ad campaign. These are:
- Brand awareness
- Reach
- Traffic
- Engagement
- App installs
- Video views
- Lead Generation
- Messages
- Conversions
- Catalogue sales
- Store traffic
Select the objective that best suits your goal. Otherwise, you might end up spending lots of money on Facebook ads without getting the desired results.
Note: For this article, we are going to select traffic as the campaign objective. Do remember the options that you will see will vary depending upon the selected objective.
Name your campaign
The next thing that you have to do is enter the name for your campaign. You will also be presented with two other options:
- A/B testing
- Campaign budget optimization
You can enable these options if you are an advanced guy or let them remain disabled if you have just started using Facebook ads. Once you have entered the name for your campaign, click on the continue button.
Target your desired audience
In this step first, you will have to enter a name for your ad set. For example: In our example, I have entered the name “traffic ad for our website”. You can enter any name you want. Next, you have to select the option for which you want to generate traffic using ads. Here you will be presented with four options:
- Website
- App
- Messenger
Select your desired option, then move to dynamic creative and offer. Using dynamic creative options, you can let Facebook automatically generate creatives for your ads. Similarly, using the Offer option, you can provide information to your audience about the offers that you are currently offering.
Now the last thing that you have to do in this step is to create your audience and select targeting options for them. In the audience section, you can either create a new audience or use an already saved audience. You can also use custom audiences using custom audience features. Next, you have to enter targeting options for your audience. Here you will target people using targeting options like Location, Age, Gender, Detailed Targeting (Demographics, Interests, and Behaviors). You can also target people on the basis of language and connection. Enter your preference in these targeting options, and Facebook will present to you an estimate of the number of people you can reach using your targeting options.
Choose Ad placements
In this step, you have to choose placements for your ad. It means you have to select the places where you want your ad to be shown. Here you have two options. You can either select automatic placements or manual placements. For the sake of simplicity, we are using Automatic placements. You can choose manual placements once you get little experience using the ads manager and place your ads on different places based upon device type, platform, placements options, and specific mobile devices and operating systems.
Set budget and schedule
In this step, you define the amount of money you want to spend on Facebook ads and also create a schedule for your ads. Here you can choose the lifetime or daily budget for your ad and set the start and end date of your ad campaign. Enter your budget, select your schedule, and you are done. Besides this, you can also use other optimization options like Optimization for ad delivery, Cost control, delivery type, etc. Use the options that best suit your requirements and click on continue.
Create your ad In this final step, you have to create your ad. First, select your desired ad format and then enter the text, headline, description, URL, and call to action. You can also preview your ad here. Once you have created your desired ad, click on the green confirm button and wait to get notified about your ad being approved by Facebook.
